Gary Jensen
Director of Music; Organist
In 1995 I joined Resurrection Lutheran Church where I am responsible for planning and providing music for worship. I direct the Parish and Sunday school choirs, and provide solo literature and accompaniment for the liturgy and hymns on the Visser-Roland 21-rank tracker pipe organ. Worship at RLC can be described as traditional and liturgical, yet eclectic. My interest and research in music of diverse cultures, combined with the fine talent within the congregation, contributes to this variety of music within worship. I am also full-time Instructor of Music Education at Eastern Illinois University where I specialize in elementary and secondary general and vocal music education. I have sung professionally with the Washington Opera and the Wolf Trap Opera Companies in Washington, DC, and have guest- conducted several middle and high school district choral festivals in Illinois. I have served as organizer and musician for many Metropolitan Chicago Synod festival worship services, and was part of the team that introduced the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) service book to the Synod. I hold music degrees from Milliken University and Northwestern University.
