Resurrection After School Program (RAP)

Begun as a safe alternative for latchkey Hawthorne Scholastic Academy students in 1979, RAP continues to serve diverse grade school children from all over Chicago with supervised activities such as cooking, crafts, field trips, homework tutoring, puzzles and play before and after the Hawthorne school day, full days on some Chicago Public School holidays and in-service days, and all day during the summer.  The 2011 RAP Summer Camp application is now available!

About

RAP originated in 1979 as a ministry of Resurrection Lutheran Church in an effort to provide a consistent and quality child care alternative to parents/guardians who can benefit from additional community support due to family, work and/or school responsibilities.  RAP provides care and supervision in a safe, playful, stimulating, homelike environment for children ages 5-12.  We welcome children of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, creed, physical handicap, national origin, or ethnicity.   Our goal is to create a respectful community where children can express themselves and play comfortably, while developing valuable social skills.  We aim to provide children with experiences which promote the development of meaningful values and friendship in a safe environment.

Fundraising

MAKE A DONATION

Tuition assistance is an important component of our non-profit mission.  Our goal is to offer tuition assistance to ALL families who qualify.  In order to do this, we must continuously work to build up our tuition assistance fund.  Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated and are tax-deductible.

Occasionally RAP will conduct fundraisers (a rummage sale or spaghetti dinner, for example) to raise money for special projects.  Parents and friends of RAP are encouraged to participate and to suggest their own fundraising ideas.  Please contact the Director with your great ideas!

RAP benefits when you shop online using the following links.  Please remember to come here first when doing your online shopping.
