Justice and Social Ministry
Our covenant with God in baptism includes "serving all people, following the example of our Lord Jesus, and striving for justice and peace in all the earth." (Evangelical Lutheran Worship, page 236). Here are some of the ways that Resurrection serves and strives:
+ Providing cookies, hygiene kits, and occasional meals for
The Night Ministry, which works with Chicago's homeless population. Resurrection members collect soap and shampoo samples from hotels when traveling and include them in the offering to be used in making portable hygiene kits for those served by The Night Ministry. Resurrection also takes a turn serving dinner on the street once every few months.
+ Providing portable meals for the clientele of
Northside Housing and Supportive Services.
+ Working collaboratively on various community issues, such as health care, affordable housing and police accountability, with
Lakeview Action Coaliton.
+ Collecting resources and hosting occasaional food drives for
Lakeview Pantry.
