The Sunday School Program at resurrection serves pre-school through adolescent students. Except during summer, classes are held each Sunday (excluding Thanksgiving weekend, the weekend following Christmas, and Easter Sunday) from 9:45-10:40 a.m. Classes begin the Sunday following Labor Day and conclude the Sunday before Memorial Day Weekend.
We have a wonderful team of teachers dedicated to making Sunday School a fun and educational experience. During Sunday School children enjoy singing, learning, praying, “crafting,” baking and snacking together.
During the 2010-2011 academic year, the Sunday School program will continue using the on-line curriculum entitled Seasons of the Spirit
. Seasons of the Spirit is a lectionary-based resource created by an international team of writers and editors representing denominations from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the USA, and the UK.
In addition to weekly classes, students sing the first Sunday of most months, and participate in the annual Christmas Pageant held during the 5:00 p.m. Christmas Eve family service.
Other events that take place during the year include Rally Day, our annual kick-off event for Sunday School, and the Advent Festival
, our celebration of Advent that takes place in early December.
Each year, the Sunday School selects a not-for-profit organization to which weekly offerings are donated at the end of the academic year. In recent years the Sunday School children have donated funds to Heifer International
, an organization that helps struggling families around the globe, and the The Night Ministry
, a local organization that provides aid to homeless youth and adults. This year, donations are being collected for ELCA God's Global Barnyard
If you have any questions about the Sunday School Program please feel free to contact one of the Sunday School Coordinators at the church office
All of God's baptized children are welcome at the family table. Following the recommended practice of the ELCA
, Resurrection extends "Eucharistic hospitality" to all children who regularly commune. Because of differences in piety, understanding, and background, some parents do not wish for their children to commune until receiving instruction. These children are welcome to receive a blessing from the presiding minister.
Resurrection encourages all children to learn about Holy Communion. Pastor Brian periodically offers a four session class for lower elementary school-age children (first through third grade) with their parents/guardians that is biblical, interactive and fun. The final session includes baking bread for the worship service at which class participants not yet communing will receive their First Communion.

Vacation Bible School
Each summer, Resurrection partners with neighboring congregations for a week of Vacation Bible School for preschool and elementary age children. Students come Monday through Friday from 9am-12 noon to enjoy worship, music, interactive Bible study, games, crafts, and snacks. The week climaxes with a potluck and closing program Friday night. For more details, contact the church office
or watch the website for updates when summertime comes.
